Overview
Admin › Club › Payments shows the bank-account status at a glance, with a
link to Open Stripe Connect. Admin › Settings › Stripe Connect
(/admin/settings/stripe) is where the club's own Stripe account gets linked.
Until it says Ready to charge, checkout is gated on the club's own
connected account being able to take payments. Do it early; Stripe's identity
checks can take a day or two, and you do not want to discover that during
renewal week.
Who can open it: treasurer or super admin. A manager cannot.
Whose money is it
The club's. Payments go to a Stripe account that belongs to your club, with your club's legal entity, your bank account, and your payout schedule. Swim Ops never holds your money. It initiates the charge on your account and gets out of the way. If you ever leave, the Stripe account stays yours.
What the page shows
Capability badges use readable labels such as Active and Pending. The label is a display change only; it does not change which payment methods are available.
Status is the part to read:
Connect status: No connected account, Onboarding / pending capabilities, Ready to charge, or — for a club still on Swim Ops' shared account — Paying through shared account.
Stripe account id. The
acct_…identifier, useful when you email Stripe support.Card payments, ACH debit, Bank transfer (ACH credit). Each one is a separate Stripe capability with its own status. This is the important subtlety: finishing Stripe's form is not the same as being able to charge. Checkout is gated on the capability being active, not on the form being submitted. A club can complete onboarding and still see ACH pending for a while.
Past due requirements. Anything Stripe still wants from you, in Stripe's own words. Whatever is listed here is exactly what is blocking you.
Doing it
Press Create connected account. This is safe to press twice. It will not create a second account.
Follow the Stripe-hosted link. Stripe (not Swim Ops) collects the legal entity, the responsible person's identity details, and the bank account. Swim Ops never sees or stores those.
Come back and reload this page. If something is still pending, use Resume open Stripe onboarding (or Open onboarding link only) to pick up where you left off.
Wait for the capabilities you need to go active. Card usually clears first; ACH can lag.
Stripe's notices go to the contact email shown on the page.
Which payment methods members are offered
That is separate, and it is a policy choice: which methods you offer, per kind of charge, is configured in Club → Payments, as is whether card payments carry a surcharge and how it is presented. Connect decides what is possible; Club → Payments decides what you offer. See Autopay and payment methods and Renewals and dues.
If you see "Paying through shared account"
A banner saying payments currently run through Swim Ops' shared Stripe account means members can already pay online today, but payouts are not yet going to the club's own bank. Use Create connected account on the same page to link the club's identity and bank details. Once Stripe finishes its checks and status shows Ready to charge, charges and payouts run on the club's own account.
Common problems
"Ready to charge" but a member's ACH fails. Connect is fine; the failure is the member's bank. See Member payment troubleshooting.
Payouts not arriving. Payout schedule and bank details live in your own Stripe dashboard, not here. The reconciliation report in Reports shows what Swim Ops thinks was paid out; Stripe is the source of truth.
You changed the bank account in Stripe. Nothing to do here. Swim Ops reads capability status live.
